Grand Ceramics Club Service
Hours Policy In compliance with CAM rules and regulations
for club operations within Sun City Grand, the Service Hours Policy
below will apply to Grand Ceramics. CAM requirements are: SCG
Charter Club rules and Regulations 4.1 Program Supervision:
Club Monitor/Lead Person: During all Club activities, a person must be
assigned by the club to ensure that established operating procedures
are followed. If a facility includes more than one room, or the basic
room is too large for one person to properly oversee, additional
monitors may be required. Monitors are required to check Association
membership cards during sign-in and maintain participation
information. Monitors are required to complete Incident Reports (CC11)
should the need arise. In the event of disagreement between a monitor
and club participant, the position of the monitor will prevail in all
instances. A monitor’s decision may be appealed to the club’s
executive board but, until such appeal is heard and acted upon, the
monitor’s decision prevails. If club members are unwilling or unable
to properly monitor a facility, the program will be suspended until
proper supervision can be arranged.
Grand Ceramics Club Service Hours Policy…effective
11-1-11 1. All members* of Grand Ceramics Club are
required to provide a minimum of twelve (12) hours of service to the
club over twelve (12) months. Service hours are defined as time
donated to the club via monitoring, cleaning, maintaining the glazes,
firing the kilns, or other similar activities necessary to operating a
successful ceramics club as determined by the Grand Ceramics Club
Board.
2. The record of all service hours is maintained on a 12-month rolling
calendar. A copy of the record is available in the service binder at
the monitor’s desk. All members, regardless of how service hours are
performed, must meet the 12 hour minimum and record the exact number
of hours served in the service binder.
3. A member is classified as “in good standing” if they have provided
12 hours of service to the club in the previous 12 month period. If
the hours served are less than 12, members must provide service hours
in sufficient number to total 12 over the previous 12 months in order
to move to good standing status.
4. Members not in good standing may have access to the Studio only
while a monitor is on duty. Members not in good standing will not be
able to take classes, purchase supplies, fire wares, or sell items in
the studio or during special events.
5. New members – the same 12 hours of service are required of new
members; three hours of credit are given for studio orientation. A new
member must perform an additional 3 hours of service within 30 days of
orientation. The remaining six hours of service must be performed
within 12 months of orientation. If the three hours of service are not
performed within the 30 days following orientation, the new member
will NOT be in good standing. In subsequent years of membership, 12
service hours must be performed over the previous 12 month period as
defined above. (See #1)
6. For short term residents, those identified as residing in Sun City
Grand for three months or less, six service hours are required to be a
member in good standing. Those six hours must have been served over
the previous 12 month period.
7. Medical exemption must be requested in writing (form provided) to
the Board and may only be granted by the Board. Members on medical
exemption and unable to perform service hours will not be able to take
classes, purchase supplies, fire wares, or sell items in the studio or
during special events. Medically exempted members returning to active
status will not have to make up past service but must perform 3
service hours within the first 30 days back from their exemption
status and then remain current by continuing their service hours in a
respective amount of time.
8. For full time resident members who are monitoring, it is strongly
suggested they perform most of their service hours during the months
of April through October.
*Refer to paragraph 6 for singular exception.
NOTES (not part of the policy):
a) As a grace period, the October through December, 2010 service hours
will continue to be counted as part of the 12 hour requirement to give
members time to make up any shortfall of hours served.
b) Notifications will be sent to current members not in good standing
to advise them of their status and the policy guidelines.
c) Effective February 1, 2012, the calendar will be adjusted to a 12
month rolling calendar (i.e. hours served during October 2010 through
December 2010 will be dropped).
d) With the exception of new members who will pair with another
person, there will be only one monitor per time slot.
